September 24, 2019: Diana Feinberg AI6DF: The Government Affiliated Disaster Amateur Radio Groups of Los Angeles County

This presentation provides a wider view of how ham radio operators are organized throughout the County for public service in times of emergencies. The presentation also discusses some of the challenges and issues these groups face, both generally and in specific geographic areas.

Diana Feinberg, AI6DF, is very active in the Palos Verdes Amateur Radio Club (K6PV) and an HF operator at PVARC's annual Islands On The Air DXpedition to Catalina Island (NA-066) and International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend at the Pt. Vicente Lighthouse in Rancho Palos Verdes. You can learn more about the Palos Verdes Amateur Radio Club at its website, k6pv.org. She also belongs to the Southern California DX Club and several other radio organizations.

On the public service front, she actively participates as a radio operator at many events locally and through the Los Angeles County Disaster Communications Service where she is their Training Officer as well as head of the combined Lomita/South Los Angeles stations' DCS unit.  Through DCS she has had extensive involvement with most of the city-sponsored disaster amateur radio organizations in the southern half of Los Angeles County and exposure to many others elsewhere in the County.

She has been ARRL Los Angeles Section Manager since June 2016 after serving as Chair of the Los Angeles Area Council of Amateur Radio Clubs.  She was also Chair of the 2015 and 2017 HAMCON conventions that were ARRL Southwestern Division Conventions.
