October 24, 2017: Kathryn Hoxsie KC8CLO: Weather events in Southern California


This talk includes a general review of some recent weather events in the news with a focus on Southern California as well as the forecast for the upcoming winter season.

Kathy Hoxsie is a National Weather Service meteorologist (NWS), currently stationed at the Los Angeles / Oxnard office. She is a Southern California native but has worked at eight NWS offices around the country in her career prior to returning home a few years ago. She has worked in enough locations to encounter just about every type of weather. She expecially enjoys winter weather, and also finds a sense of satisfaction when working with convective/severe storm events.

Kathy earned her Novice license in 1995 and upgraded to Advanced in 2006. She is a member of Pasadena's Tournament of Roses.
