April 24, 2012: Scott Bovitz: The building and operation of an ultimate contesting van


J. Scott Bovitz, N6MI, operates ham radio contests (Field Day style) from various California counties and grid squares. Bovitz will be speaking about his most recent construction and contest project — the ultimate contest station on wheels.

Bovitz currently runs an Elecraft K-Line (K3, P3, and KPA500) in a Ford van — a former electronic news gathering (ENG)/cellular on wheels (COW). The van has a 56' 2" pneumatic mast, a 5 kilowatt generator under the hood (120 volts), and eight large batteries.
