June 23, 2026: Carol Bruegge KE6SRN and Tom Bruegge KE6SRO: Satellites for Field Day Contesting

At this meeting we’ll hear from Carol and Tom Bruegge, KE6SRN and KE6SRO, about the use of amateur radio satellites. They started their Amateur Radio adventure over 30 years ago to support their community by providing Emergency Communication services. More recentlythey discovered POTA (Parks on the Air), with the goal of working as many national and state parks as they could travel to. They then discovered SOTA (Summits on the Air) and earned the title of Mountain Goat in 2025. Currently they are working the 2026 SOTA Weak Signal challenge — and have hiked 83 summits this year in support of this challenge. Using the Linear Transponder Satellites has been their most recent pursuit. They hope to demonstrate this new interest at our upcoming 2026 field day.
