May 26, 2026: JIm Marr, AA6QI: Reducing Inter-Station Interference during Single-Site Multi-Station Operations

Multi-stations operations exist when you have multiple transmitters on a single site with multiple operators transmitting simultaneously. Examples are Field Day, EmComm operations, club stations (e.g. JPLARC and CITARC), DXpeditions, SO2R, and others.

During PRC Field Days prior to 2019, we experienced significant inter-station interference, mostly due to our ignorance about how to address that interference.

In his talk, Jim will discuss what factors are important to consider and how to reduce or mitigate this inter-station interference.

Jim began his amateur experience in 1963 as Novice WN6LOA and then as General WB6LOA a few months later, upgrading to Extra in 1989 as AA6QI. He has been active in the JPL Amateur Radio Club since the early 1980s and the PRC since 2014.  Jim is a US Navy veteran (nuclear submarines) and long time JPL engineer/manager. He holds BS in Eng & Applied Science and MSME degrees from Caltech.
