September 23, 2025: Karin Thompson KD4DXX: RT Systems radio programming

Karin Thompson, KD4DXX, has been been a licensed ham since 1990. She has worked in the ham radio industry since then and seen LOTS of changes in communications and technology. There has been a lot to learn over the years but so very much has remained the same. On most days you won't hear her on the air but will find her investigating settings and options of various radios to solve a reported problem of unusual behavior or to think of unusual ways to get more functionality with fewer button presses. She so enjoys helping others get on the air and get the most use from the features of their radios.

RT Systems has been at the forefront of amateur radio programming software since 1995 when they introduced the first radio programmer software for the Yaesu FT-11. Yes, RT Systems invented amateur radio programming. Each software programmer has an easy user interface that makes the radio more understandable. By creating the programmers, RT Systems changed amateur radio design, — today there isn't a radio that can't be programmed from a computer. RT Systems currently offers programmers for over 600 different radios from about 46 different manufacturers.
