August 25, 2015: Bruce Nolte N1BN: Field Day 2015 — the movie

To date Bruce Nolte N1BN has made thirteen Field Day films for the Pasadena Radio Club, the first having been in 1994. He makes each one a little different from previous versions, showing the setup and operation of the yearly June weekend event.

Two years ago he began discussions with David Greenhut N6HD, our ARRL Los Angeles Section Manager, about making a special Field Day film that would show his Field Day tour. On Field Day David travels to a series of club sites all over Los Angeles County. What if Bruce rode with him and made a film?

In 2015 it finally happened. Bruce rode with David and two others of the Pasadena Radio Club, Kate Hutton K6HTN, and Mark Seigel W6MES — to 13 Field Day sites — in 13 hours. The sites were in a variety of locations, including public parks, windy hill tops, and even a battleship!

Bruce shot about 5 hours of video that he has edited down to a snappy length with music. It’s a fun film that will be enjoyed by all! After our club meeting on August 25, 2015, you’ll be able to find it in the video section of our web site’s Library Page (http://w6ka.net/library or http://pasadenaradioclub.org/library).

Bruce was first licensed as N6TFS in 1988 and currently holds an Extra class license. He is a graduate of the School of Film/Video at CalArts and has worked as a filmmaker for many years.
